Phaser unveils his highly anticipated debut album, Forever Online, premiering December 6th
This project, developed over three years, reflects the exploration of the connection between personal identity and the digital world. Combining experimental electronica, pop, and influences from the “PC Music” movement, the album stands as both a celebration and a reflection on the impact of the digital age on artistic creation.
“O Amor é Breve”, the album’s second single, was released on November 29 and marks Phaser’s debut singing in Portuguese. The track delves into the intensity and fleeting nature of relationships, capturing the emotional power of love, even in its most transient moments. Accompanied by a visually striking music video filmed at dawn on Matosinhos beach, the song is enriched by Suévia Rojo’s performance, whose movements embody the melodic and lyrical essence of the track.
Combining electronic elements with an emotional approach, “O Amor é Breve” reveals a more sensitive and intimate side of the artist while maintaining coherence with the album’s futuristic and immersive aesthetic. Musically, the track explores melodic layers and textures that contrast with the first single, “I Speak Data”, a vibrant and maximalist piece that introduced the album's concept to the public. “I Speak Data” draws on genres like Jersey Club and reflects on how the digital world influences daily emotions and practices. The first single’s music video, created using cutting-edge techniques such as Blob Tracking, showcases Phaser’s commitment to integrating sound, visuals, and technology.
At the heart of Forever Online is Phaser’s artistic persona, symbolized by a 3D helmet designed by Portuguese designer Tomás Correia (@mecatommy). This visual element encapsulates the fusion of human and digital themes that permeate the album’s lyrics, sounds, and visual aesthetics. Each track explores contemporary topics, from technology-mediated interactions to emotions shaped by a connected and virtual world.
Phaser, a 23-year-old artist and sound producer based in Porto, has a background that spans audiovisual art and performance. A graduate in Film and currently completing a master’s in Art and Sound Technology, he has been exploring innovative ways to combine sound, visuals, and narrative. Drawing influences from artists such as Sophie, Flume, A.G. Cook, and Daft Punk, Phaser creates an artistic universe that challenges genres and establishes new forms of expression.
